Sound familiar?
There are plenty of courses, software names and job titles, and they all sound alike. Tutorials only take you so far, and a certificate on its own does not open studio doors. What helps is a clear path, guided practice on real projects and people who can answer your questions.
Every course promises a career. You need to know which skills lead to the role you actually want.
Studios look at your showreel first. You need guided, hands on projects that give you something to show.
Batches, duration and fees all matter. A counsellor can match them to where you are today.

If you are choosing between a 3D animation course in Pune and a 2D animation course in Pune, start with the first two cards below. The rest are neighbouring paths in VFX, games, design and AI that many students add later.
A 3D animation course should walk you through the same stages a studio pipeline follows. At Arena Animation FC Road you learn each of them through projects, so by the end you understand how a character goes from a sketch to a finished shot.
Build characters, props and environments in 3D using tools like Maya, Blender and ZBrush.
Give surfaces colour, material and detail so your models look believable on screen.
Add a skeleton and controls to a model so it can move.
Bring characters to life with timing, weight and performance, which is the core of what a 3D animator does.
Light the scene and render it into final images with the mood a shot needs.
Pull your best work into a showreel and portfolio that studios can review.
Choose 2D animation if you love drawing and want to tell stories frame by frame. Choose 3D animation if you prefer building characters and worlds on a computer, and you are drawn to games, films and modern production work. Both teach timing, movement and storytelling, so the skills carry over if you switch later. If you cannot decide, our counselors will look at your interests and suggest a starting point.
Possible career paths
Typical roles people move into after training in Animation & 3D. Studios name them differently, so treat this as a guide to the kind of work you can aim for.
Placed and hired by studios
Arena Animation has long stood behind its students’ careers. Every student who completes a programme gets help moving into a creative career, from portfolio building to interview preparation.
Trusted by the best
Our graduates have gone on to work with animation studios, game studios, production houses and media companies across India.
These are the students whose work our mentors are proudest of. Each card shows the student, the role they trained for and the project they built.
Each placement began as a portfolio built during the course. Here are some of our most recent.
What our Animation & 3D students say
You will learn the full 3D pipeline: modelling, texturing, rigging, character animation, lighting and rendering, using software such as Maya, Blender and ZBrush. You also learn the basics that sit behind the software, such as timing, weight, composition and storytelling. The course is project based, so you finish with a showreel and not only notes.
Check four things. Look at real student work and not only ads. Ask who reviews your projects and how often. Find out what placement support actually includes, for example portfolio help and mock interviews. Visit the centre and speak to current students. You can do all four at Arena Animation FC Road in a free counselling session.
The fee depends on the programme and the duration, since a 3 to 6 month workshop and a 24 month programme cost very differently. Our team shares the exact fee and what it includes during counselling, along with EMI options and education loan support. Ask for the complete fee and the batch timings before you decide on any institute.
Our Advanced Program in Animation with Unreal Engine and Advanced Program in Animation and VFX run up to 24 months. We also offer short term workshops of 3 to 6 months. Six months is enough to learn the basics and see whether you enjoy the field. Reaching a studio ready level usually takes longer, because you need time to build a strong showreel.
Yes. Many students join after 12th, and graduates and working professionals join too. Eligibility differs by programme, so share your qualification with a counsellor and they will tell you which one you can join. We also offer a B.Voc Degree in Animation & VFX for students who want a degree alongside their training.
No. In 3D animation you work mostly on software, and drawing is helpful but not required. For a 2D animation course in Pune, drawing matters more, but it is a skill you build with practice and feedback. Our programmes also teach composition, colour and storyboarding, so you improve as you go.
Choose 2D if you enjoy drawing and frame by frame storytelling. Choose 3D if you like building characters and worlds on a computer and want to work in games, films or modern production. Both teach timing and movement, so what you learn in one helps in the other. A counsellor can help you decide in a short conversation.
Maya is widely used in studio pipelines, and Blender is free and a good way to start 3D. We teach both, in Master in Maya and Master in Blender, so you do not have to bet on only one. Our counsellors will suggest the right one for the role you want.
Not on day one. You can begin with the systems at our centre and see how the work feels before you spend money on hardware. When you are ready to practise at home, your mentors can suggest what suits the software you are using.
Typical roles include 3D animator, 2D animator, 3D modeler, texturing artist, rigging artist, lighting artist, rendering artist, storyboard artist and 3D generalist. Studios use different job titles, so look at what the work involves and match it to the skills you built.
No institute can honestly promise a job, because studios hire on the quality of your showreel and your interview. What we do is run portfolio and showreel workshops, mock interviews and introductions to studios through our placement cell. Your effort and the quality of your work decide the result.
AI is changing how studios work, but studios still need artists who can direct a shot, judge quality and fix what a tool gets wrong. Learning the fundamentals of animation and 3D keeps you useful, and learning AI tools on top of them helps you work faster. If you want both, we offer a Gen AI programme alongside our animation courses.
